Hi Jon, thank you for sharing this, I enjoyed your article! A few remarks about the terminology though:

(1) Freud abandoned the term ‘subconscious’, because he thought it was too confusing. In psychoanalytic literature the term ‘unconsciousness’ is used because it’s a clearer opposite to ‘consciousness’.

(2) If you are trained in Freudian psychology, you would most likely refer to yourself as a psychoanalyst.

(3) If you talk about psychodynamic theory in general, not all schools think that objects in dreams have a specific meaning. Jung was convinced that you could only interpret dreams if you knew your client’s history as the symbols are highly individual.
