That's a very interesting thought, to my knowledge Adler never referred to Buddhist teachings but those ideas might have gotten to him through other Western philosophers he referenced, such as Schopenhauer if I remember correctly. But to be honest, I'm not sure about this and would have to do more research :) I sometimes think that there is a very deep underlying truth that you can touch upon through different theories, which can be easter/western philosophy, psychology, anthropology and more. Maybe that's why Adler's theories remind you of those Buddhist teachings because they both touch the same point of being unattached to other people's opinion but very dedicated to being useful and kind to others.
